All MCD dams are storing floodwaters for the first time this year.

The Great Miami River Watershed received an average of 5.54 inches of precipitation in December, which is 2.68 inches above normal. The annual precipitation total for the Great Miami River Watershed in 2011 was 58.90 inches (19.85 inches above normal), a new annual record. The previous annual precipitation record was 53.91 inches set in 1990.

More than 55 inches of rain have fallen in the Great Miami River Watershed this year  – 17 inches more than the average annual precipitation. And the good news is that our region’s riverfront cities have not flooded.
